MRI Technologist — Cayuga Medical Center

Advancing Diagnostic Precision: MRI Technologist at Cayuga Medical Center

Location: Ithaca, New York | Full-Time Days/Evenings FLEX | Cayuga Medical Center

The Opportunity to Expand Your Clinical Reach

In modern diagnostic medicine, high-field magnetic resonance imaging is the cornerstone of clinical decision-making. For an accomplished radiologic technologist, true professional satisfaction stems from working in an environment that prioritizes diagnostic quality, patient safety, and clinical scope over sheer transactional volume. Cayuga Health, in partnership with Centralus Health, is seeking an MRI Technologist to join its diagnostic imaging team at Cayuga Medical Center in Ithaca. Offering exposure to complex imaging protocols—including Interventional MRI—alongside a collaborative clinical culture, this position presents an immediate pathway to elevate your technical capabilities within a respected regional health system.

Professional Value Proposition

At Cayuga Medical Center, your role extends far beyond standard slice prescription and scanning. You will serve as an integral clinical partner to radiologists, ordering providers, and nursing teams. In an environment that values technical rigor and high patient-care standards, you will manage complex cases involving advanced sequences, specialized patient populations, and interventional procedures. Whether you are an experienced MRI professional looking for an autonomous, safety-focused clinical setting or a motivated technologist ready to specialize in advanced modalities, Cayuga Medical Center provides the infrastructure, advanced instrumentation, and departmental support necessary to advance your career.

Clinical Scope & Operational Impact

Operating within Cayuga Health’s flagship hospital, the MRI Technologist is entrusted with full operational workflow, from pre-exam evaluation through diagnostic completion:

  • Advanced Protocol Execution: Set acquisition parameters for optimal signal-to-noise ratio and image resolution across routine, neurological, orthopedic, vascular, and interventional MRI examinations.

  • Safety & Regulatory Compliance: Enforce rigorous MR safety protocols for patients and hospital personnel across Zones I through IV, adhering strictly to institutional and ACR standards.

  • Contrast & Interventional Care: Oversee IV access, contrast administration protocols, and required clinical point-of-care lab verifications (including i-STAT procedures) while completing thorough documentation and PACS transfers.

  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work directly with diagnostic radiologists and clinical teams to adjust imaging parameters dynamically, ensuring diagnostic accuracy for complex clinical inquiries.

The Employer Advantage: Cayuga Health & Centralus Health

Cayuga Health encompasses Cayuga Medical Center, Schuyler Hospital, a Level II NICU, comprehensive cancer and cardiac centers, and more than 40 regional clinical offices. As part of Centralus Health—an integrated community delivery network employing over 6,500 dedicated healthcare professionals—the organization pairs the agility and collegiality of a community hospital with the resources, stability, and scale of a growing regional network. Cayuga Health emphasizes a patient-centered care philosophy, clinical excellence, continuous technological investment, and dedicated professional development programs.
