A Rewarding Career Opportunity in a Remarkable Setting

Imagine building your radiology career in a welcoming Finger Lakes community, where meaningful hospital-based clinical work is complemented by beautiful lakes, rolling vineyards, charming villages, and year-round outdoor recreation.

UR Medicine Finger Lakes Health is seeking a full-time, day-shift Radiologic Technologist II to join Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital in Penn Yan, New York.

For an experienced imaging professional considering a career change—or a recent graduate seeking to establish a strong clinical foundation—this position offers an appealing combination of competitive compensation, varied diagnostic responsibilities, and the opportunity to contribute to patient care in a community hospital.

And beyond the professional opportunity, Penn Yan offers something increasingly valuable: a lifestyle where scenic surroundings, outdoor activities, and a close-knit community are part of everyday life.

A Career That Combines Clinical Skill and Meaningful Patient Care

Radiologic Technologists play an essential role in helping physicians diagnose injuries, illnesses, and other medical conditions. Their technical expertise, sound judgment, and ability to put patients at ease directly influence the quality of the imaging experience.

At Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital, you will have the opportunity to apply your skills across a variety of diagnostic radiographic assignments, working with patients ranging from newborns to older adults.

The position includes diagnostic radiography, portable imaging, and the application of clinical skills and judgment in different patient-care situations.

The Radiology Tech II role also requires demonstrated competence in radiographic and CT studies, providing an opportunity to utilize a broader technical background.

For professionals who enjoy variety, patient interaction, and the practical challenges of diagnostic imaging, this position offers a meaningful setting in which to contribute their expertise.

Why This Opportunity Deserves Your Consideration

A full-time day-shift position. For imaging professionals who value a daytime work schedule, this opportunity may provide an appealing alternative to positions centered on evening or overnight shifts. On-call responsibilities may be required, and specific scheduling details should be discussed during the recruitment process.

Competitive compensation. The position offers an hourly rate of $39.09–$44.27, based on previous experience, along with an advertised $5,000 sign-on bonus for full-time Radiologic Technologists.

Varied clinical responsibilities. Rather than focusing exclusively on one narrow type of examination, the position involves multiple diagnostic radiographic assignments, portable equipment, and imaging needs across different patient populations.

An opportunity for experienced professionals and new graduates. Finger Lakes Health specifically welcomes both experienced Radiologic Technologists and new graduates. Candidates must be able to demonstrate full competency in the Radiology Tech II role within the first six months of employment.

A community-centered hospital environment. Working in a community hospital offers an opportunity to contribute to healthcare services that are important to local residents and families.

Your Hospital and Healthcare Organization

Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital is located in Penn Yan and operates within the Finger Lakes Health organization, identified in the posting as UR Medicine Finger Lakes Health.

As a Radiologic Technologist, your work supports the diagnostic process and contributes to the timely delivery of patient care.

This is an opportunity for professionals who appreciate the clinical purpose of their work and the importance of serving a regional community.

Compensation and Benefits

The advertised compensation package includes:

• Hourly salary: $39.09–$44.27, based on previous experience.

• Sign-on bonus: $5,000 for eligible full-time Radiologic Technologists.

• Employment: Full-time.

• Schedule: Day shift, with possible call requirements.

• Benefits: A competitive benefits package is advertised; specific medical, retirement, paid leave, and other benefit provisions should be confirmed.

Discover the Finger Lakes Lifestyle

One of the most appealing aspects of this opportunity is the chance to live and work in Penn Yan, a picturesque village in New York's Finger Lakes region.

Located near the northern end of Keuka Lake, Penn Yan combines the character of a traditional small community with access to some of Upstate New York's most beautiful scenery.

Life Near Keuka Lake

Keuka Lake is known for its distinctive Y-shaped shoreline, scenic views, boating, fishing, kayaking, and waterfront recreation.

Residents can enjoy lakeside activities during warmer months, colorful landscapes during autumn, and the quieter beauty of the Finger Lakes throughout winter and spring.

Outdoor Recreation in Every Season

The surrounding region offers hiking, cycling, walking trails, state parks, and opportunities to explore forests, waterfalls, and lakeshores.

The Keuka Outlet Trail, connecting the Penn Yan and Dresden area, is a local destination for walking, cycling, and enjoying the region's natural landscape.

Wineries, Dining, and Local Character

Penn Yan is part of the Keuka Lake wine region, where vineyards, tasting rooms, farm markets, restaurants, and locally owned businesses contribute to the area's distinctive character.

The village offers a traditional downtown atmosphere, while nearby communities provide additional shopping, dining, and entertainment options.

A Different Pace of Life

For professionals considering a move from a larger metropolitan area, Penn Yan may offer an attractive alternative: a smaller community, ready access to nature, and opportunities to enjoy recreational activities close to home.

Housing choices in the broader area include village residences, suburban-style neighborhoods, rural properties, and lake-area homes. Pricing and availability vary considerably by location and property type.

Connected to the Wider Finger Lakes Region

Penn Yan is within driving reach of Geneva, Canandaigua, Watkins Glen, and other Finger Lakes communities. Rochester and Syracuse provide access to larger metropolitan amenities, universities, cultural attractions, and regional transportation connections.

For candidates who appreciate outdoor recreation, small-town character, and the beauty of the Finger Lakes, this location deserves serious consideration.
